Examples Grounded in My Qualitative Research Experience
Example 1: Topic Selection & Research Focus
Clarifying Direction at the Start of the Research Process
During my own doctoral research, I began with multiple interests shaped by professional experience and lived context. The challenge was not choosing a topic, but refining a focus that was researchable, meaningful, and appropriate for qualitative inquiry. Through iterative reflection and alignment, I clarified the central phenomenon, refined the problem, and developed research questions that were coherent and defensible.
What this means for you:
If you’re uncertain about your topic or feel pulled in multiple directions, I help you narrow focus, clarify purpose, and move forward with a topic that fits both you and qualitative research expectations.
Example 2: Proposal Development (Chapters 1–3)
Building a Coherent, Aligned Research Foundation
As I developed my proposal, maintaining alignment across the problem statement, purpose, research questions, and qualitative design was essential. This required careful reasoning, clear justification, and attention to methodological coherence across Chapters 1–3.
I draw on this experience to guide researchers through proposal development—supporting clarity, alignment, and defensible decision-making without rewriting or editing their work.
What this means for you:
You gain a clearer understanding of how your proposal fits together and how to explain your choices with confidence.
Example 3: Data Analysis & Interpretation (Chapters 4–5)
Moving From Data to Meaning Without Losing the Researcher’s Voice
In my qualitative study, Chapter 4 required careful coding, pattern identification, and theme development grounded in participant narratives. Chapter 5 then required stepping back—connecting findings to meaning, implications, and existing research without overreaching or losing analytic integrity.
When supporting researchers, I use this same process to help clarify analytic reasoning, strengthen theme development, and support thoughtful interpretation across Chapters 4 and 5.
What this means for you:
You develop themes and interpretations that are grounded, coherent, and ready to be explained or defended.
